2 – Personal Skills and Experiences

I am Sia Khan Khay . I have taken ART since 13th November 2007 . I buried my life in HIV implementation from 1999 and then I run as a volunteer in MdM at 2008 while doing as a volunteer, I involve as a member in Self help group name Noble Care. Mission of our group is to take care of PLHA patients in Hospital. In weekly meeting we all member put at least 1000 kyats as a fund and after that , we can lend to other member with low interest .We can support the ill member admitted to the hospital with this interest getting from the fund. I became a peer educator in MdM since 2009 . Our MdM support these activities such as VCCT , STI and ART program to high risk groups sex worker and MSM . We have different groups and teams perform our responsibilities in MdM . It can mainly differentiate into outreach , DIC and Clinic . I am mainly working under prevention team in outreach and DIC . We have to perform our outreach and DIC activities alternately . We give HE session and free condom distribution to high risk (area). If they want to do VCCT , we take them along with us to clinic . Some MSM and sex worker can come to clinic by themselves because we give leaflet , address card to them during outreach activities . We have beauty Spa for high risk coming to MdM clinic . In this spa , MSM made nail art , washing hair , straightening hair , drying hair , washing face to customer with low rate . We celebrated World AIDS Day as a miracle fair festival every year . Our peer groups can attended workshop training invite by other NGO such communication training , counseling training , team building training and home base care training.

As I am a MSM , I am quite suitable for this training . I was not in good understanding about HIV in previous time . So I got HIV. If youth MSM and TG can give health education efficiently , HIV incidence will decrease . I attended many trainings for health education to MSM , TG and hidden gays with the knowledge of these trainings .But I think myself I still need to improve. I am sure that I will have more knowledge if I can attend this trainings . So , I think I am suitable for this program. When I am selected to attend this training , I think I can do to lessen stigma and discrimination among MSM , TG and Hidden gays due to the training for this training . I will guide them to discuss the life of MSM , TG and Hidden gays with each other . We can learn how MSM , TG , PLHIV work for their lives in other countries and we can imitate the to improve our lives by attending this training . I will meet and share knowledge with MSM , TG from various countries and can have a chance to know how they stand for their lives and can share knowledge to MSM and TG from Myanmar . In our country , if one MSM , TG is positive , there is stigma and discrimination . So they need support . I think I can get good opportunities or chance from this training so that I can share my experience to MSM , TG in Myanmar .

4 – Future plan after finishing programme

IF I am selected , I will use the good knowledge gained from this program for the improvement of MSM , TG . I will do more in prevention. I will do training for MSM , TG . I will get better communication from this program. I can know who can help us and where we can help . If I can learn how to write a proposa , I will ask the opportunity for MSM , TG. I will collect MSM , TG at Yangon and lead to create self help groups . I will give trainings like positive prevention , STI , Psychosocial Support , Home Base Care , Gender issues , Stigma and Discrimination to MSM and TG self help groups . I will give care and support for the people who suffer AIDS . I will send well –trained MSM and TG to rural area for outreach health education. I will created MSM , TG network. I will make MSM , TG consultation . We will share the progress and down-trends of our projects . I would like to do community based organization . I will find donors to get ART for HIV positive MSM and TG . I will also try to receive nutritional support for them .
