I am Si Thu Tun Oo, I am a prevention facilitator in Medecins Du Monde. I am working with men who have sex with men and sex workers friends to give education about STI and also working with PLH to attend volunteers Peed Education Training. I explain and encourage MSM and SW to take blood test and educate how to prevent themselves from STI. Moreover, I demonstrate how to use condom systematically and practically.

I go outreach with mobile clinic which have doctor and nurses from my organization for SW and their partners. We also go to message parlors for SW who are not allowed to go out and even to their partners.

On every Monday morning I meet PLHIV and share about my experience and about the trainings I have attended, about choosing healthy food, about living healthily by disclosing myself that I am a HIV positive person.

On Monday evening I go and send condoms to beauty parlors and to the apartments and houses where there are MSM stay together and educate them how to use condom systematically and not to forget to use condom every time they have sex.

On Tuesday I went outreach, in the evening I go to places where SW are staying, e.g lady houses, messages, parlors, hotels, guest houses, etc. I educate them how to use condom systemically to reduce HIV/AIDS. I go these places with my SW friends, staffs and mentors (in-charge).

Sometime in the evenings and nights I go to the night clubs and tea shops where there are many SWs and MSMs, I educate them how to prevent HIV/AIDS and STI with my peers. Moreover, I arrange meetings with SW and MSM with legal counseling staffs from MDM on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, I help self-help group inside MDM. For the friends who come to MDM to make a blood tests, I help them to make peer help tests counseling from Monday to Friday with my peers. Once a month make monthly workshop where I help my SW and MSM peers to participate happily. I also take part as presenter, singing songs and acting in short play also.

I am helping with all my heart morally and practically to my volunteers, SHG. Moreover, even on the holidays I go the pagoda festivals and educate how to use condoms and how to prevent HIV/AIDS as a volunteer. I help to distribute leaflets, key chains, cartoon books and journals to MSMs and SWs who live far from Yangon.

I discuss with friends from SHG and INGO and NGO and look for the ways for the future.

I go to the PLHAs at hospitals, to the NGO who invites us at my home office at MDM. I present a role play with my MSM and SW friends. These are my edu-taining activities. I, myself trying to help by encouraging peer like me to live happily and hopefully to live long live and to reduce HIV/AIDS and STI as much as I can.

3 – Personal Statement

Please use this space to detail why you think you are suitable for the programme. Maximum of 700 words. DO NOT exceed the space

I am interested Young positive MSM leadership development program because I can get international level experience which I can be shared to all the PLHA peers from Myanmar and to show the ways how to survive even we are positive.

I am suitable for this training because I can get new ways for the future plan as an educator. I believe that I can get new lessons, experiences and more new friendship with PLHA from abroad so that we can share each other for the future plan of health education.

Moreover I will build up my own SHG in the future to share knowledge about HIV/AIDS and STI for the development of MSMs.

I feel that I can extend out network by co-operating with PLHA from all over the world and also improve my community.

At present, I am facing with some problems, e.g some friends are refusing to use condoms and to make VCCT, and finally most of them face to death. That is why I am working as peer educator at MDM to solve these problems.

I believe I will get more education and experiences from this program after attending. So that, I can share with all the PLHA, I also want to share my life experiences with all my friends from international MSM network.

I am very eager to attend this program because I hope I can get teahniques to encourage PLHA to withstand life problems as I can understand their lives very easily. I’ll do these works as long as I am still alive by using the knowledge and experiences from this program.

If I have a chance I really would like to attend this Young Positive MSM Leadership Development Program.

I wish to create the world without STI and HIV/AIDS after attending this program.

4 – Future plan after finishing programme

This kind of scholarship program is really essential for development of PLHA MSMs. We can improve over personal skills by attending this kind of training. We need this leadership development program to reduce HIV/AIDS and STI, to educate to use condoms systematically in our environment.

I want to improve the prevention through the creative ways and experiences of education getting from this program. So that I can share more effectively.

I also wish to help and share my knowledge by using my won self-help group for the MSMs and SWs from the near and far places.

From the experiences in MDM, other SHG and knowledge from attending this program, we can get international level knowledge.

By using this experience, I want to share peer MSM and SW and I intend to improve their life style.

Apart from out education level whether educated or none, which is just to give knowledge of health education to MSMs and also to the partners of MSMs and SWs about HIV/AIDS and STI.

I wish all the people would have sense how to prevent HIV and how to live happily as a PLHA. I would share the knowledge I gained to my friends and apply my experiences in my work.

PLHA should disclose among young people, MSMs and SWs about themselves and educate them.

By this program, I can stand as an ideal PLHA to give health education to MSMs and SWs to reduce spreading of HIV/AIDS and STI in our community.
